Weston McLean played soccer on Long Island, with daring excitement, for he loved the game. However, in life as in death, he will always be remembered for he left a legacy to others who love to play Soccer.  Cpl. Weston David MacLean, a marine from Westbury lost his life outside Da Nang on July 22nd 1966 just days after his 19th birthday. Before he went overseas, he had written a letter to his mother, to be opened in the event of his death. In that letter he instructed her to turn over his life savings, $400.00 to LIJSL. The money was placed in a trust and each year a trophy is purchased and awarded to the best junior goalkeeper, as requested by the highly respected young man.In tribute to this very fine gesture, the LISFL has decided to continue this tribute to Weston MacLean till 2002.
