Lamine Traore scores for Port Jefferson SC in their 1-1 draw with Lansdowne Bhoys

Port Jefferson SC continued their impressive run as they represented the LISFL in the 2014 ENYSSA Sal Rapaglia Champions Cup and narrowly missed out on qualifying for the tournament final. After a 5-0 win over Islas Malvinas (Allfut League champions), Port Jefferson faced Lansdowne Bhoys (Cosmopolitan League champions). After a scoreless first half, Lansdowne took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Papa Thioune. Port Jefferson SC answered back with a goal by Lamine Traore to tie the game at 1-1. The game ended at 1-1 and Port Jefferson SC were eliminated on goal difference as Lansdowne had defeated Islas Malvinas earlier in the day by a score of 10-0.

While it was a tough way for Port Jefferson SC to exit the tournament, they earned a lot of respect from those in attendance. Many people called the game with Lansdowne "the best one in the tournament".

Following the tournament, LISFL President Gus Xikis said, "I'm so proud of Craig (Korobow) and his team. Port Jeff showed everyone exactly how strong our league is. They played their hearts out and left everything on the field."

Former League of Ireland player Daryl Kavanagh in action for Lansdowne Bhoys

Following the game with Port Jefferson, Lansdowne Bhoys defeated Real Sociedad (Eastern District League champions) by a score of 4-0 to win the tournament. Former League of Ireland player Daryl Kavanagh and Mohammed Kaba each scored two goals for Lansdowne, who now advance to the Final of the ENYSSA U.S. Open Cup qualifer. A win in that game and Lansdowne will advance to the regional qualification stages for entry in the 2016 U.S. Open Cup.
