10/15/17 - This week in the LISFL saw a return of the ENYSSA Cup games for each of the league's clubs as they each began a journey that hopefully will result in reaching the Cup Finals in June. Games were played throughout Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Westchester as all of the ENYSSA clubs faced some unfamiliar foes.

Manning Cup

Four time Manning Cup Champions PDB Irish Rovers looked to restablish themselves in a competition they dominated in the early 2000s. Rovers took a big step towards that goal by defeating Cedar Stars Academy 4-3 on penalty kicks after the game ended 3-3. Cedar Stars were leading 3-1 when they scored an own goal in the second half to bring Rovers back in the game.

Mustaffa Alobeidy scored on a bicycle kick to tie the game at 3-3 and then the game went to penalty kicks. Rovers goalkeeper Scott Flores came up big with a save during the shootout that Rovers won when defender Kyle Brennan converted the final kick. Earlier in the game, forward Victor Montano had scored on a free kick to give Rovers their first goal.

With the win, Rovers advance to face the winner of Lansdowne Bhoys vs New York Athletic Club. NYAC defeated Kosmos United CY 5-2. Peter Touros and Alex Bustillo were the Kosmos goalscorers.

Three time Manning Cup Champions Glen Cove Avellino defeated Doxa 4-2 on penalty kicks after a 0-0 game. With the win, Glen Cove advance to face New York Shamrocks who defeated Forest Park 9-1. Gonzalo Carignano was the lone scorer for Forest Park.

Real New York FC defeated Zum Schneider 4-2 on penalty kicks after a 1-1 game. Terrel Caesar was the goalscorer for Real NY who advance to face New York Pancyprians. They defeated Port Jefferson SC by a score of 4-0.

Other results included a 7-0 defeat for New York Serbia by New York Greek Americans and a 3-1 defeat for Port Jefferson Fusion by Central Park Rangers White. Sean Hamilton was the Fusion goalscorer.

Flamhaft Cup

Oceanside United defeated CD Iberia 2-1 on goals by Jourdan Perez and Robert Tucker. With the win, Oceanside advance to face Willamsburg International FC who defeated Oyster Bay Park 7-3. Jaime Rivero scored twice, while Gerhard Zuniga added a goal for Oyster Bay.

Floral Park defeated Bronx Supreme 2-1 with Juan Perez and David Lopez providing the goals. Floral Park moves on to face Central Park Rangers Red who defeated Glen Cove Avellino 6-1.

Hicksville American SC advanced by a forfeit win over KidSuper Samba and will face El Salvador who defeated New York Polet 6-1. Ivan Vulin scored the lone goal for Polet.

New York West Indies United defeated Capo Verde with Robins Venett, Richardo Antoine, Jean Ade, Jean Valcine, and Venard Dezil each scoring a goal.

West Indies will play New York Ukranians who defeated College Point Flames 6-5 on penalty kicks after a 2-2 tie. Greg Baum and Cesar Cerquera were the Flames goalscorers.

Olympiacos New York won 3-1 over Port Chester SC on a goal by Ronney Rodriguez and two goals by Christian Torres. With the win, Olympiacos advance to the Round of 32.

  • Renato Rubio scored for New York Serbia in a 3-1 loss to Brishna.
  • Joshua Guriel scored for PDB Irish Rovers in a 5-1 loss to NYPD FC.
  • Real New York FC lost 3-2 to FC Japan with Paul Thompson scoring both goals for Real.
  • Jose Villatoro and Delwin Hernandez each scored for Forest Park in their 5-2 loss to Manhattan Celtic.
  • Kosmos United CY lost 4-0 to Stal Mielec.
  • South Jamaica Portuguese lost 3-1 to Panatha USA with Matthew Pistone scoring the lone goal for the Portuguese.
  • New York Ittihad lost 4-3 to Black Eagles with Fawad Ahmad, Mohammad Yonis, and Cameron Peiper each scoring a goal.

Strumpf Cup

Pro-Touch Eagles United continued their hot start with a 3-2 win over Barnstonworth Rovers. Jonathan Guardado and Edward Molina each scored a goal, with an own goal giving Pro-Touch the win and a game with FC Partizani in the next round. Partizani defeated Asteras GCC 1-0.

Athletico Union advanced to the Round of 16 by forfeit over Inter NY.

In other games:

  • Keith Donahue scored for NYPD Soccer Club in their 2-1 loss to Homenetmen of NY.
  • Frank Biordi scored for SS Cosma Damiano in their 6-1 loss to Shamrock SC 1960.
  • Lansdowne Bhoys Metro defeated Farmingville Portuguese 3-2 with Vincent Hamel scoring both goals.
  • Asteras NY lost 4-2 to AO Brooklyn with Byron Calle Cruz and Lamine "Pele" Diallo scoring for Asteras.
  • Leros got one goal from Miguel Chung and two goals from Julian Escobar, but lost 7-3 to NYFC Illiria.

Marth Cup

Glen Cove advanced by forfeit over America FC and will face Manhattan Celtic Legends who defeated Lindenhurst 6-1. Anthony Giordano was the lone scorer for Lindenhurst.

Jerzy Jankowicz, Jacek Kaplan, and Lukasz Lupinski each scored a goal for Polonez in their 3-1 win over Barnstonworth Rovers Veterans.

Polonez advance to face Baisley United who defeated CPR Orange 6-2. Ryan Reid, Marco Hamilton, and Donovan Bernard each scored a brace for Baisley.

Nathan Brill scored a hat trick and Chris Crandon added a goal for Long Island Gaels in their win over Banatul SC.

The Gaels with face Istria in the next round after they defeated CPR Old Boys 6-1. Istria Head Coach Carlo Bucich was on hand and gave this account of the game, "After a slow start in the 10th minute Istria went ahead with Alija Pepic. Followed 5 minutes later with a big penalty save by Brian Young. Just  before the first half ended Sanel Salmanovic made it 2-0. CPR Old Boys closed the gap in the 60th minute, made it 2-1. Istria struck back first with John Knesich, then Gheorghe Baican, again with Salmanovic and finally with Dariusz Kaczorowski. Ending with final Istria 6 to 1. Looking forward to next round."

Emir Redzematovic scored twice, with Steve Cope and Rohan Hepburn adding goals to give Garden City Centennials a 4-0 win over SC Eintracht.

Garden City will face Integral Kings in the next round after they defeated Barnstonworth Old Boys 5-2. Ricardo Burke scored a hat trick and Marcus Julien added a brace for Integral.

Port Jefferson SC advanced by forfeit over Manhattan Celtic Masters.

Vargas Cup

Baisley United advanced by forfeit over Oyster Bay Park and will face Baldwin in the next round.

New York Hota Bavarians defeated Lindenhurst 2-1 to advance to the next round. Cheiek Tidani and Phil O'Hara scored for Hota, while Ralph Pecorale was the Lindenhurst goalscorer.

Hota will play Oceanside United in the next round after they defeated Olympiacos New York 3-1. Francesco Visone scored twice and Seth Lehman a goal for Oceanside, while Nikolas Dokic scored for Olympiacos.
