11/6/16 - This week in the LISFL saw several division leaders pick up wins to add to their lead. The intensity of the games continued to heat up as the league draws closer to the winter break.

Division 1

In a midweek game, the "Huntsmen" of Kew Forest came away from Forest Park with a 2-0 win. Tenzen Yougal had his second straight 2 goal game for Kew Forest.

The reserve game finished in a 3-3 draw, Enry Hernandez scored twice and Ronald Martinez added a goal for Forest Park.

Port Jefferson Fusion lost 4-3 to Port Jefferson SC in a midweek reserve game. Sean Hamilton scored twice and D'Andre Baker added a goal for the Fusion. The Port Jefferson SC scorers were Juan Pallares with 2 goals, while Logan Moore and Dennis Bocanegra each had a goal.

Glen Cove Avellino defeated New York Serbia 3-1 on goals from Tyler de la Torre, Frank Volante, and Hector Escobar. The reserve game ended 2-2. Quiroz (Izzy) Huerta and Jonathan Padilla were the Glen Cove goalscorers.

Serbia's Assistant Coach Alex Matovic gave the following account of both games, "NY Serbia vs Glen Cove reserve game: the game got off to a fast start with chances by Serbia and Glen Cove. Serbia had a great scoring chance on a corner kick. Pavle Petricevic gets a head on the ball, but Glen Cove's goal keeper made a beautiful finger tip save. Few minutes later, Akroyd Obino gave a ball to Djiby Diallo and with one move on the goalie he put it past him for a 1-0 Serbia lead and that's how the first half would end."

"Second half Glen Cove came out pressuring and scored an equalizer and then few minutes later a mistake by Serbia's goal keeper saw Glen Cove go up 2-1. With 1 minute left Serbia off a free kick Dane Cardiel puts the ball in the box and Djiby Diallo shoots a low ball into the back of the net to end the game in a draw! Great game by both teams and the ref was very good too!"

"In the first team game Glen Cove got off to a good start and with a mistake by Serbia's goalie Glen Cove capitalized and took an early 1-0 lead. Serbia fought back and with a beautiful free kick by Boban Velcanovic, Serbia leveled it 1-1 at half. Second half Glen Cove came out firing and even though Serbia's goal keeper made some great saves he couldn't stop them all and Glen Cove won the game 3-1! Again great game and it was a pleasure to play against Glen Cove."

The "Huntsmen" of Kew Forest won their third in a row by a score of 1-0 over Port Jefferson Fusion. Jimmy Barrios scored the goal for Kew Forest. The Fusion won 4-0 in the reserve game. Sean Hamilton scored 2 goals again and Kevin Quituizaca also scored twice for the Fusion.

East Hampton defeated Real New York FC 3-0 on goals by Gehider Garcia, Mario Olaya, and Luis Correa. The reserve game ended in a 3-1 win for East Hampton. Furkan Akyol scored twice, while Luis Barrera added a goal for East Hampton. Rohan Smith was the Real New York goalscorer.

New York Polet defeated Forest Park 4-0 on 2 goals by Nick Bell, and goals from Marin Jonjic and Marin Filipovic. Forest Park won 3-2 in the reserve game. Ronald Martinez scored 2 goals, while Alex Martinez added a goal for Forest Park. Anderson Osorio and Jose Torres were the Polet goalscorers.

Port Jefferson SC took a 1-0 lead over New York Irish Rovers on a goal by Dennis Bocanegra, but Rovers got a late goal from Alagie Janneh to ensure a 1-1 tie and a valuable point on the road. Rovers earlier won the reserve game 2-1 on 2 goals by Diego Alvarado. Zanetti Alberick was the Port Jefferson goalscorer.

Division 2

Floral Park continued their strong season with a 3-1 win away to Farmingville Portuguese. Evan Wagner, Julian Munera, and Carmine Gironda scored for Floral Park, while Philip Borzumato was the Farmingville goalscorer.

New York West Indies United defeated Olympiacos New York 4-1. The West Indies goalscorers were Watson Jn Baptiste with 2, while Fernander Demas and Herve Valcourt each had one. Christopher Gruver was the Olympiacos goalscorer.

The "Portuguese Derby" ended in a 5-4 win for South Jamaica over Mineola. Bruno Martins had 4 goals for South Jamaica, while Pedro Azevedo added a goal. David Gonclaves scored twice for Mineola, while Helder Mendes and Paul Goncalves each had a goal.

Leros lost 5-2 to College Point FSC. Dorie James scored twice for Leros in the loss.

Joe Meagher, Chris Gorzynski, and Alejandro Monsalve were the goalscorers for the College Point Flames in their 3-1 win over Oyster Bay Park.

Oceanside United continued their strong season with a 3-0 win over SS Cosma Damiano. Anthony Coker scored twice and Greg Durso added a goal for Oceanside.

Division 3

Port Jefferson Fusion came away with a 3-0 win over South Jamaica Portuguese. Michael Anglim, Daniel Lazo, and Carlo Carcamo were the goalscorers for the Fusion.

A Sunatillo Khusanov hat-trick along with goals from Alexis Escobar and Rashid Allah Morad gave Kosmos CY a 5-0 win over Hicksville Americans.

Asteras GCC came away with the win after a 7-5 shootout with NYCD Boldest Soccer FC. Steven Bailey had a hat-trick for the Boldest, while Oladapo Ologun and Kwasi Boateng added goals.

Over-30 Division

Istria picked up a 3-0 win over New York Hota Bavarians to maintain their lead atop the West Division. Dragos Herinean, Michele Giacobbone, and Sean Resch scored the goals to give Istria the win.

Two goals from Donovan Bernard and one from Steven Chen gave Baisley United a 3-0 win over Garden City Centennials.

Integral Kings defeated Lindenhurst by a score of 3-2. Ricardo Burke scored twice and Lawrence Maitland added a goal for Integral. Rob Meehan and Steven Jenns had the goals for Lindenhurst.

Glen Cove Avellino picked up a big 2-0 win over East Division leaders New York Polet. With the win, Glen Cove stays 4 points behind Istria in the West Division. Damion James and Irasto Knights were the Glen Cove goalscorers.

Long Island Gaels VSP picked up their first win of the season over Oceanside United by a score of 4-2. Nathan Brill scored twice, while Aykan Yurdacan and Chris Crandon added goals for the Gaels. Miguel Ramos and Godswill Emenike were the Oceanside goalscorers.

Polonez defeated Port Jefferson by a score of 5-1. Mariusz Dec scored 2 goals, while Grzegorz Kaplan, Andrzej Kozuchowicz, and Pawel Borek each added a goal. Peter Ramirez was the Port Jefferson goalscorer.

Over-40 Division

Polonia defeated Baldwin 5-0 to continue their undefeated start to the season. Marcin Dziewulski and Piotr Golabek each scored 2 goals, while Michal Siwiec added a goal.

Olympiacos New York defeated Oceanside United 1-0 on a goal by Nikolas Dogic.

New York Hota Bavarians defeated Lindenhurst 2-0 on goals by Cheiek Tidiani and Raymond Campbell. Tidiani now has 19 goals this season for Hota.

O'Neil Johnson scored twice to give Baisley United a 2-0 win over Oyster Bay Park. With the win, Baisley were able to remain in second place and keep pace with Polonia.

Over-50 Division

Polonia defeated Baisley United 1-0 on a goal by Jaroslaw Mieleszko. The loss was a setback for Baisley in their effort to keep pace with division leaders New York Hota Bavarians who defeated New York Polet / Rudar by a score of 2-0. Raymond Campbell scored 2 goals and Alonso Alvayero scored 1 in the win for Hota.

Oceanside United defeated Olympiacos New York 3-1. Vincenzo Longo scored 2 goals and Wilson Mena scored 1 for Oceanside in the win. Georgios Moukas scored for Olympiacos.
