The Long Island Soccer Football League (LISFL) is proud to announce that the New York Cosmos will host the Final of the LISFL's 2016 Ryder-Vass U23 Tournament, which will be held on Saturday, July 30 at Hofstra University's James M. Shuart Stadium immediately following the conclusion of the NASL game between the Cosmos and Puerto Rico Football Club.

The Ryder-Vass U23 Tournament is held annually by the LISFL throughout the months of June and July. The winner of the tournament goes on to represent the league in the New York State U23 Finals. The LISFL Ryder-Vass Tournament typically features the top U23 teams and players from the local region. Numerous players have go on to play professionally and some have represented their countries internationally.

The tournament provides an opportunity for college players to play competitive games and train regularly before they head back to college in the fall. It also provides players seeking to play college soccer with a chance to showcase themselves to coaches or prepare for tryouts.

LISFL President Gus Xikis said, "this is a wonderful opportunity for the league to showcase itself to the local community. Erik (Stover) and everyone with the Cosmos have been terrific partners with the league as we work to grow soccer within our local community. Typically, the U23 Tournament has some of the best games in our league throughout the entire season. We are thilled to get the opportunity to share this experience with all of the soccer fans in the region."
